Poetry, Politics

Alas, to be in or to be out,
that is the question so much in doubt

for once a sprawling empire,
birthed by battle and royal decree,
now of imaginary empires
struggling to be free.

Football and fables, fish n’ fancy degrees
are its major exports to former colonies

watching much bemused
as the centre cannot hold
itself together long enough
to decide how it’ll be sold.

Brexit is your chance too see the tomfoolery
once bestowed upon much of the world,
now live on BBC.
